Serving communities of all different backgrounds, Wyndham Community and Education Centre has thoughtfully utilised Good360 donations to provide much-needed essentials including homewares and furniture, as well as toys for children. When did Wyndham Community and Education Centre join Good360?
We joined Good360 in 2019.
What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
Wyndham Community and Education Centre (Wyndham CEC) has many programs, all who have benefited from the various donations we have received from Good360. These include refugees from the Karen and Afghan communities from our Community Strengthening Unit, members from the South Sudanese community from our Junubi Wyndham Unit and of course our young people from our Senior Secondary Program (SSP). The centre itself has also benefited from many items that we have been able to use and therefore reduce our running costs.
What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
We have had many amazing stories but one of our favourites is the new library we have filled with books donated by Good360 to fill the shelves in our Senior Secondary Program. This program is for students who have disengaged from mainstream school and this gives them the encouragement to borrow and read books which many would not get the chance to do otherwise.
The Christmas drive at the end of the year where staff are encouraged to make a small donation to cover the cost of handling enabled us for the last 2 years to give over 100 children from the above programs Christmas gifts.
How does Good360 help your mission?
Our Vision Statement is, “Improving lives – Strengthening Communities”. Our mission is for Wyndham Community & Education Centre Incorporated will be a leader in educational, social, cultural and community services in Wyndham City and surrounds.
Our programs, services and activities are responsive to community needs and provide opportunities for participation, inclusion and enhanced well-being.
Good360 helps us to carry out this vision and mission by allowing us to help our community members out with many items for their everyday lives. Items include nappies for families with young children, LEGO for all ages, including a young boy who had only been in the country a month, Christmas presents for children, books for the SSP library, especially a staff member who was evacuated from Afghanistan with very few possessions who had to leave her extensive collection of books behind.
What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
If it wasn’t for Good360 we wouldn’t have a library in the SSP. That is the biggest single benefit we have seen using donations from Good360. We have had many very happy children and families who would not have had nappies, toys for their children, clothing, manchester, kitchen items, books and much more.
Through the supply of sanitiser, masks and disinfectant wipes to use and share through the long months of COVID, Wyndham CEC was also able to keep our staff and clients safe and extend it out to the wider local community during this difficult time.
What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
My favourite donation was the Frozen tables and chairs. Mainly for the joy they brought to many young children. The smiles on their faces and the stories we have heard from families who received them brings a tear to your eyes.
How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?
I would say well over 500 lives have been impacted over the 4 years we have been members of Good360.
