Congratulations to our Member of the Month for April, Safe Pets Safe Families! As one of our members servicing not only families and individuals in need, but their furry friends as well, Safe Pets Safe Families has made an incredible difference with donations of pet food and other home essentials. Read about their work below and some of their unique impact stories.
When did Safe Pets Safe Families join Good360?
We joined Good360 in May 2020.
What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
The programs that we utilise Good360 donations for are Our Paws & Pals Program. This program provides much-needed support to displaced members of our community such as people experiencing homelessness and others struggling financially.
Our foster care program also benefits from food donations. Our volunteer foster carers kindly take on dogs and cats and care for them while the owners are sorting out their crises. Some of our foster carers are able to provide the food for the foster pets but others require us to provide all of the pets needs including pet food, kitty litter and bedding etc.
Donations also go to a broad range of clients that we support in many areas including domestic violence,homelessness, low income earners, mental health, hospitalisation and community partners.
The impact that donations from Good360 have on Australians in need is that it provides hope for so many that are struggling. As well as providing much needed necessities, our clients emotional wellbeing is supported knowing that there are many people who care about them.
What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
Seeing the smiles on a young homeless couple’s faces when handing out some pet food and then asking them to choose one of the new dog coats that had recently arrived. They were so excited and expressed how much their dog would love the warm coat. We then offered them some body wash, toothpaste, mouthwash and toiletries and again they were very grateful and relieved that they would now be able to use their money towards buying their own food for the week.
How does Good360 help your mission?
At Safe Pets Safe Families we support and work with people and pets in crises to improve outcomes and reduce the occurrence of surrender, animal abuse, neglect and euthanasia. Having regular donations from Good360 provides our community with financial help and peace of mind when times are tough.
What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
Without Good360 we would have to rely on requesting help from private or public donations and retail outlets. We still source donations this way but they vary weekly and are not reliable, and there are times we struggle to provide our outreach community with enough pet food. The variety of goods from Good360 that arrive regularly are unpacked and distributed quickly. Nothing is ever wasted.
What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
Pet food is always in demand so it is a big favourite and very much appreciated, but the LEGO packs last Christmas were a huge hit with many of our clients’ children.
How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?
2000 at least , possibly more.
