Member of the Month – Association of Ukrainians in Victoria

Congratulations to our Member of the Month, Association of Ukrainians in Victoria (AUV) Noble Park, who have been a key source of help for Ukrainian refugees who have recently migrated to Australia due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Back in June, with the help of Good360 and Optus, AUV were able to run a mobile phone and SIM activation event in Victoria to distribute brand-new phones to refugees. Since then, 200 mobile phones and 154 SIMs have been activated, allowing the recipients to stay in touch with friends and family in Ukraine, and access essential services to aid their transition into their new lives in Australia. Read more about AUV below and what they do to assist Ukrainians in their community.

When did you join Good360?

We joined in July, 2022.

What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?

Good360 Australia helped with the Optus activation event in Victoria for displaced Ukrainian refugees. After arriving in Australia with little on their backs, these phones will help them communicate with family and friends still in Ukraine and will help them adjust to their new lives in Australia by giving them access to the internet.

What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?

Dealing with Liz and Susan was fabulous. There was a group of older ladies from Ukraine who came, many with old or broken phones. They were absolutely delighted to receive new ones.

How does Good360 help your mission?

The Association of Ukrainians in Victoria (AUV) represents the Ukrainian Australian community within Victoria, Australia. The AUV promotes linkages with Ukraine, other communities around Australia and identifies and addresses the needs of the Ukrainian community in Victoria to ensure it’s continued existence and development for the enhancement of Australia’s socio-cultural fabric.

Good360 was able to provide donations of Optus SIM cards and mobile phones to help us assist newly-arrived Ukrainians in need. These refugees we had helped now feel welcome and can feel a sense of community in their new home.

What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?

We would not have been able to provide as much help for the Ukrainian refugees without the donation of phones.

What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?

The Optus SIM cards and mobile phones enable the Ukrainian refugees to stay connected with family and friends and help navigate their new lives in Australia.

How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?

Around 500 with the roll-out in NSW and SA. During the activation event in Victoria, we were able to hand out 200 phones and activate 154 SIM cards.
