Ian Potter Foundation awards $3 million grant to enhance Good360’s capacity to help people and our planet.
Good360 Australia is honoured to announce The Ian Potter Foundation has generously awarded Good360 $3 million in new grant funding to propel our growth and impact through to 2030
The Ian Potter Foundation has played a pivotal role in Good360’s expansion as one of our founding funders, supporting us with program grants totalling $1 million since our launch in 2015.
We are deeply grateful for the additional $3 million major grant funding which will help Good360 expand our operations nationally and grow our capacity to connect more goods to more people in need.
This incredible long-term commitment comes as community demand for non-food aid has reached record levels, with millions of Australians struggling through a devastating cost of living crisis. Requests for Good360 support from charities increased by 400 per cent at the beginning of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, while our research highlights that one in four Australians ‘are doing it tougher than ever before’. Meanwhile, it is estimated that billions of dollars’ worth of brand-new household goods are needlessly going to waste each year.
Good360 is embarking on a significant period of growth to maximise our impact, including:
- Developing new industry partnerships across retail, transport, technology, digital, media and funding, while growing our charity network so we can distribute more goods to people and communities in need.
- Strengthening relationships with governments to ensure key decision and policy makers understand the value and importance of God360’s work and are aware of the significant need for non-food aid in the community.
- Improving technology to meet the evolving needs of charities, schools and businesses, and to more efficiently transport goods to where they are needed most.
- Building awareness of the benefits of businesses donating goods to help people and the planet, rather than sending them to waste.
Commenting on the new funding, Good360 Australia’s Founder and Managing Director Alison Covington AM said: “At Good360 we are on a mission to ensure that every new good in Australia is either sold or donated, rather than wasted, to both look after our environment and ensure all Australians can go from surviving, to thriving.”
“Meaningful change and impact takes time, hard work and collaboration, and we thank the Ian Potter Foundation for recognising the impact Good360 is having in reducing waste and supporting people in need across Australia and backing us in. Already in 2024, we have connected more than 1.5 million in goods to people in need. However, there is much more that can and must be done.”
“Continued support and capacity funding such as this announcement from Ian Potter Foundation is vital to our work. Partners who join us on this journey that are in for the long-haul are rare, and we have been very fortunate have incredible support from the Ian Potter Foundation, as well as the Goodman Foundation. As founding funders who believe in our mission and share our values, their trust and support is invaluable. We are excited to be entering this new phase of growth and impact,” said Ms Covington AM.
