In September Young Change Agents in partnership with Good360 piloted the first retail social enterprise in an Australian school at Merrylands East Public School. Good360 has helped provide stock for the shop including toys from Moose Toys and LEGO, hygiene and body products from LUSH and L’Oréal Australia, accessories including sunglasses and water bottles and much more. In addition to the Good360 items, students have also created their own products.
The shop is an exciting new initiative that aims to help students learn skills in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, retail soft skills and sustainability.
Each student has an online bank account with digital currency, which students can earn by:
- Creating products and selling them wholesale to the shop, which then sells them at retail prices to the students using the digital currency.
- Volunteering in the shop and practising their retail skills.
- Demonstrating good behaviour in line with the school’s values.
John Goh, Merrylands East Public School Principal said, “With this store here at Merrylands East, it gives the students the opportunity to have authentic learning where we can bring their ideas to reality.”
Good360 is so excited to be a part of this innovative project and we can’t wait to learn more about the impact on students, their families and the school.
