Helping You Help Others: Understanding Our Service Fee

At Good360, our mission has always been simple: to help you help others.

We connect brand-new goods generously donated by businesses with the charities and schools that need them most. If you’ve been with us for a while, you might be wondering why there’s now an service fee attached to many of the items in our catalogue.

If the products are donated, why is there a cost?

It’s a great question, and one we hear often. While the items themselves are donated, the process of getting those goods into your hands (and the hands of the people you support) isn’t free.

From the moment before a donation is offered to when it lands safely at your organisation, there are a lot of steps and real costs along the way.

Why we have introduced service fees

At times, Good360 Australia receives grant funding that allows us to temporarily cover some or all service fees, or even offer free shipping, for a set period. While this support helps us reduce costs for some of our members, it’s not ongoing or guaranteed. Like many charities, our funding levels can fluctuate, so we’ve adapted our operations to ensure we can continue delivering impact sustainably through the Circle of Good.

We know this has been frustrating for some long-time members. The team truly understands that many of you are grassroots organisations doing incredible work on limited budgets, and this shift hasn’t been easy.

To be transparent: as a charity ourselves, we’re not fully funded either. Just like you, we’re doing everything we can to make a difference with the resources available to us. These small fees help us continue supporting communities across the country, now, and well into the future.

What does the service fee cover?

The small service fee you see helps us cover the behind-the-scenes work that makes this all possible. That includes:

  • Sourcing and coordinating with our generous brand partners to find, secure and manage donations
  • Receiving, sorting, and categorising items to get the goods online, ready to order and  for you to use
  • Storing goods safely in our warehouse, or coordinating logistics if stored at a partner’s venue, until you’re ready to order
  • Picking, packing, and preparing your orders for delivery
  • Supporting you via our Customer Success team, and maintaining our online catalogue and technology

We work hard to keep these fees as low as possible, often just a small fraction of the item’s retail value, to ensure you can stretch your budget further and reach more people doing it tough.
