When you think about the basic human needs for survival; oxygen, water, food, shelter and sleep, the final need (sleep) is often forgotten. For many of us the simple act of laying your head down at the end of the day is something we don’t give a second thought. But for Australians experiencing hardship whether its homelessness, disaster or a myriad of other circumstances, having a safe and comfortable place to sleep is a luxury they aren’t afforded. This is why Good360 Australia are so excited and proud of our ongoing partnership with Tempur Mattresses ANZ.
Our relationship with Tempur is nearing its first year anniversary, and in that time Tempur have generously made regular quarterly donations to Good360 of a total 44 high quality mattresses, valued at more than $346,000(RRP), which has gone out to eleven member charities, across six states and territories. With these donations the recipient organisations have been able to support their communities across a range of cause areas including tackling homelessness, disaster relief and migrant support.
One charity who has received a donation of Tempur mattresses is McAuley Community Services for Women who work with women and children experiencing family violence and women who are experiencing homelessness.
The back-to-back disasters of the last two years, including drought, flood, bushfires, and the devastating effects of COVID-19 has seen huge demand for Good360’s services. In 2020 Good360 was matching 13 items per minute, the latest wave of lockdowns drove that number to a peak of 39 items every 60 seconds! Through disaster recovery alone, Good360 has matched 12 million items including hand sanitiser, face masks and everyday essentials, to Australians in need.
Good360 Founder & Managing Direct Alison Covington said: “Many people who would not normally ask for help are now part of the vulnerable community and the need is greater than just food alone. Having the continued support of a household name like Tempur allows Good360 to offer brand-new mattresses to Australians at a time when they need them most. We are grateful for this partnership which is providing equality and dignity to so many people in need”.
Jason Nicholas the Managing Director of Tempur ANZ commented on the relationship, stating, “Tempur is proud to partner with Good360. There are such great synergies across both of our organisations, at Tempur one of our core values which reinforces our ESG policy, is that we care about each other. Good360 match the right goods to the right people at the right time during times of disaster. Everyone deserves to sleep well, this is a basic human need that Tempur is happy to help people in need through Good360 and their network of angels!”
It’s ongoing partnerships like this one with Tempur that continue to allow Good360 to help our more than 3,000 members to make impact in the lives of Australians in need across the country. To read more about the impact the Tempur donations have had you can read our impact stories.
