Former Super Retail Group CEO, Peter Birtles, has joined the Good360 Board (commencing 22 August) after closely following the significant impact stemming from connecting surplus with need.
Prior to his retirement in February 2019, Birtles was CEO of Super Retail Group for 13 years and Chief Financial Officer for 5 years. He oversaw the development of Supercheap Auto and BCF, as well as the acquisition of Rebel and Macpac, increasing sales from $500 million to $2.6 billion.
Before joining Super Retail Group, Birtles worked with health and beauty group The Boots Co in the United Kingdom and Australia for 12 years.
Birtles has served as a non-executive director of GWA Group for close to 9 years and was recently appointed as a non-executive director of Metcash and APG&Co (the owner of Sportscraft, Saba and Jag businesses).
Birtles brings to the Good360 Board his extensive knowledge and experience of the retail sector, with the vision of helping Good360 hit their 2025 target of connecting $1 billion of donated goods to Australians most in need.
Birtles says: “I have joined Good360 because I am excited by the opportunity to contribute to such a worthwhile organisation facilitating the transfer of surplus new products to those most in need. Hopefully I can bring my experience in the retail and consumer goods industry to help Alison and the team increase the scale and efficiency of the operation.”
Alison Covington, Good360 Founder and MD responded: “We are very excited to have Peter join the Good360 Board. Peter’s intimate knowledge of the retail sector will be invaluable. His high level experience and insights will ensure that all retailers know that Good360 are a viable solution for their surplus goods with the benefit of helping people who need it most.”
