Member of the Month – Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation

Congratulations to our Member of the Month for September, Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation (CHAC)! Since joining Good360 in 2020, CHAC has provided essential healthcare services and much-needed resources to vulnerable communities across NSW and Victoria. From programs for Elders and Mums n Bubs to mental health initiatives, CHAC’s work is truly making a difference in their community.

Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation were one of many Good360 members who benefited from funding from the Department of Communities and Justice via the NGO Flood Support Program. This funding enabled us to deliver additional support across designated flood affected communities in NSW during this time of high need. Good360 was grateful to have received this funding, and the impact was more than we anticipated.

Christina, who managed the project on behalf of Good360 and Susan, who was responsible for reporting, would like to acknowledge the support of Mandy Godwin, the Commissioning and Planning Officer who contract managed the funding with kindness and professionalism.

When did Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation join Good360?
We joined Good360 in February 2020.

What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
Our programs for Elders, Mums n Bubs, Men, Women, Suicide Prevention and the Social Emotional and Wellbeing team use the items donated by Good360.  We also give donations to people who use our healthcare services and are in need.

Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation (CHAC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing primary health care services to the communities of Buronga, Dareton, Ellerslie, Euston, Gol Gol, Pooncarie, Balranald, Wentworth,  (NSW) and Mildura (Vic). Most of our clients are disadvantaged, vulnerable, from generational low socio-economic backgrounds, have long-term unemployment, and poor physical and mental health.

What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
One of my favourite moments was being able to offer a client an Optus data SIM card so they can contact emergency services when needed, call their doctor, and talk with family and friends. This client is no longer faced with the fear of dying from an asthma attack because he lives alone and has no phone credit.

How does Good360 help your mission?
Donations from Good360 are essential to our mission of fostering a healthy, strong and proud Aboriginal community. The donations bring joy, hope, a sense of belonging to our clients while helping to improve health.

What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
Good360 is a lifeline for CHAC. Without their donations, CHAC would be unable to provide the essential support that our community relies upon. The lack of resources would lead to increased hardship and suffering.

Every Good360 delivery brings a ray of hope and a reminder of the generosity that sustains our community.

What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
Every donation feels special because it shows that people care about helping others. It’s like receiving a warm hug from the community. Of all the donations, t-shirts are particularly meaningful. They can offer a bit of warmth on a chilly day and cool comfort on a hot one. They symbolise new beginnings, a connection to the community, and a boost of confidence. Wearing a donated t-shirt can make someone feel good about themselves and remind them that they’re not alone.

How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?
About 1,000.
