Congratulations to our Member of the Month for August, South Eastern Community Connect (SECC). Although SECC has only been a member for nearly six months, the impact they have made in that time has been extraordinary. From adding a little extra joy to their clients’ lives with special gifts to providing essential items that have become out of reach for many, SECC is making a real difference. Read about the amazing work they’re doing below.
When did SECC join Good360?
We joined Good360 in February, 2024.
What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
We use the donations to support and care for our 183 clients who access The People’s Pantry food relief program in Mascot, as well as our families who have come to us following domestic and family violence. The products give dignity and a sense of value to those who have been on a tough road in life.
What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
I’ll never forget the moment I handed a little girl a tiara (a donation from fashion accessories brand Vimwood). Her whole demeanor changed, and she went from looking anxious and stressed to relaxed and happy. I said “You look like a princess!”, she looked up at me with smiling eyes and said, “Really?”.
How does Good360 help your mission?
In a few short months, Good360 has enabled our mission to expand considerably. We have been able to save many thousands of dollars on everyday essentials which we are handing out to visitors to our centre every week. We are also able to gift them with treats and luxury items they would not normally be able to afford. This brings so much joy, and the recipients are so grateful. It shows them how much they are cared for by their community, and builds trust and goodwill.
We were able to run a free school holiday program (LEGO Fun Factory) off the back of significant LEGO donations, which was a huge success and a wonderful community builder. Events like these help us build trust and grow our impact.
What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
We would be significantly less resourced to do the community work we do. We would be struggling to meet the cost of donations, and would not be nearly as sustainable as a charity.
What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
Definitely the LEGO. It has made such a difference to our community, in particularly families doing it tough. They would never be able to afford LEGO normally, and the joy these gifts have brought is immeasurable.
How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?
Around 1,225 people.
