October Member of the Month – Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation

Congratulations to Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation our member of the month. Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation (CHAC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing primary health care services to the communities of Wentworth, Dareton, Buronga, Gol Gol, Ellerslie, Pooncarie, Euston, Balranald (NSW) and Mildura (Vic). Most of our clients are disadvantaged, vulnerable, from generational low socio-economic backgrounds, have long term unemployment, poor physical and mental health. Good360 membership empowers them to support their clients and supports their mission of a healthy, strong and proud Aboriginal community.

When did you join Good360?

In February 2020.

What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?

Products received from Good360 are used in our programs for Elders, Mums n Bubs, Men, Women, Suicide Prevention and in the Social-Emotional & Wellbeing team. All of these teams use the items donated by Good360.  We also give donations to people in isolation due to COVID-19 or people who use our other services and are in need.

What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?

Seeing them grin broadly or shed a tear and being overwhelmed to receive such kindness. The Joy they feel at having shampoo to use or a pair of new shoes that fit, rather than a poorly fitting pair from a second-hand shop. Gifts to give loved ones for Christmas or Father’s Day. A kettle to replace using a pot to make a hot drink. A toaster for quick, controlled cooking rather than standing on watch over a grill. I could go on and on. I have had many wonderful moments and interactions with clients when using Good360 products.

How does Good360 help your mission?

Working together for a healthy, strong and proud Aboriginal community is boosted by the donations received from Good360.

What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?

If Good360 wasn’t here to help, the wellbeing of CHAC’s staff and community served would be lower.  People would suffer more financially, mentally, spiritually, socially and physically. It’s a celebration every time a delivery from Good360 arrives, lifting spirits high. The ripple effect of the impact of the donations is widespread.

What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?

Every donation is a favourite – “a pearl without price”. It’s extremely difficult to choose just one donation.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Good360 funded shipping and handling on donations. Given our communities have been very fearful of COVID-19, become more isolated, felt ashamed and blamed for spreading COVID-19 despite following rules and guidelines, having donations to give during this time have helped people through COVID darkness to reach better times.

I will never forget giving an Elder a towel – something that many of us take for granted but he didn’t have one.

How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?

About 12,750
