Good360 Australia is proud to announce our partnership with the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) that will create real impact for businesses (large and small) and Australians in need.
Good360, a Not for Profit, is Australia’s largest online marketplace where businesses can donate their brand-new surplus stock which is then matched to people in need, Australia-wide. Since launching in Australia in 2015, Good360 has matched more than $171 million worth of new goods (donated by well-known brands including BIG W, Best & Less, LEGO, Harvey Norman and Jeanswest) with some of Australia’s most disadvantaged communities.
Good360 has recently been recognised as a leader in the circular economy by The Circle Awards, receiving the ultimate Judges’ Choice Award.
“Good360 is a pragmatic contribution towards prolonging the life of products while also supporting those in economic distress …I really do admire Good360’s ability to address social, ecological and economic objectives.” – John Gertsakis, Director of Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence and Adjunct Professor at UTS Institute of Sustainable Futures.
Good360 Australia Founder and Managing Director, Alison Covington said, “We are absolutely delighted to be working with the ARA and look forward to helping their members, as the retail sector continues to embrace the circular economy. We know that finding the right charity partners to work with and then managing those relationships can sometimes be challenging for retailers. The good news is that we already have the systems and networks in place to make it as easy as possible for retailers who want to do the right thing but don’t know where to start.”
ARA CEO Paul Zahra said “Good360 has a great business model that reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill, by matching donations from businesses to where they are most needed in the community. We think this makes them the right partner to support our members, so they can increase the amount they donate to charitable organisations rather than increasing the environmental and financial costs of sending more waste to landfill.”
One way that Good360 is currently supporting the community is through its COVID-19 Appeal, matching donations of COVID-safe PPE with charities and schools across Australia. In 10 days, Good360 has matched over 600,000 units of PPE including face masks, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes, valued at over $2.1M (RRP) to people in need, totally free. But with its warehouse locked-down and Click & Collect closed, Good360 has kicked-off a fundraising campaign to help cover the costs of packing and shipping orders that would normally be covered by volunteers and partners.
Alison said “The back-to-back disasters that Australia has endured over the last 18 months, has resulted in a ‘new vulnerable’ sector coming from all walks of life. People that would not normally ask for help are now feeling destitute and need support. COVID is a disaster that is affecting all Australians and Good360 is working hard to keep our neighbours, family and friends safe by matching essential PPE items to areas where it is needed most.
“On top of that, the lockdowns in Sydney mean we are unable to get our volunteers to help pack orders in our warehouse and unable to do Click & Collect for our charity and school partners, meaning we are having to cover the costs of distributing these much-needed supplies to the community. Good360 is up to the challenge of matching any brand-new PPE to people in need, but we need financial support to help cover our logistics costs so we can help even more Australians in need.”
