The Annual Third Sector Awards recognises and celebrates the best Not-For-Profit practices around Australia. This Year, Alison Covington, Founder of Good360, was announced as a finalist for CEO of the Year. The winners of each award are selected by a combination of public voting and expert judging panel. The Awards gala took place on Thursday, the 4th of November and after a lot of anticipation, Alison was named CEO of the Year 2021.
Creating a “Leaderful” Organisation
Alison’s determination to provide a solution to stop surplus, brand-new, non-perishable products going to landfill, led her to create Good360 Australia. It’s a concept which has disrupted the Australian retail sector. The Good360 e-commerce platform, has become a “one stop shop” for member charities and schools, allowing them to stretch their budgets and reduce inequality. As of September 2021, Good360 has distributed 24.60 million items to its member charities and schools, worth just shy of $192 million (RRP).
As a matchmaker, Good360 could not have the scale of impact, both for the retail sector and Australians in need, without collaboration. Good360 now has over 3,000 charities and disadvantaged schools who are our grassroots distribution partners. As well as more than 300 donors, who provide both surplus and purposeful donations of brand-new retail items for Good360 to match to the needs of the charitable and NFP sector. Without collaborations like these we would not have been able to scale, to meet the demands of the sector, and reduce the waste concerns within the retail industry.
Alison’s leadership and values support and nurtures innovation. This has been at the core of Good360, with a forward-thinking attitude to technology helping us pivot and innovate, to meet the scale of the problem we are working to tackle. This approach has led Alison to grow the organisation 50% year on year.
The next stage of Goood360’s development will be a new digital marketplace, in the form of an app, to help connect even more goods to Australians in need. The development of this app is underway and will be one part, of an omni-channel plan in meeting our short-term goal of matching $1billion RRP of goods by 2025.
Believing no item of use should go unused, is a core value embedded in all of Alison’s leadership decisions. Alison’s ability to find solutions and her unwavering passion to end surplus from the retail sector going to waste, has helped Good360 match millions of items to people in need across Australia.
We are very excited to see her hard work recognised by the Third Sector Awards, in their naming of Alison as the 2021 CEO of the Year. Thank you to all of our supporters who voted, and to everyone who has worked with Good360 to achieve Alison’s vision over the years.
