Congratulations to our Member of the Month for May, the Lions Club Toongabbie Seven Hills. Having been a member since August, 2022, they have made an incredible impact not only within their immediate area, but have also extended assistance to flood-impacted communities in the Hawkesbury. When did the Lions Club of Toongabbie Seven Hills join Good360?
We joined Good360 in August, 2022.
What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
Good360 Australia has supported Lions with a number of service projects and this journey began with a single step. It all starts with one act of service, one encouraging word, and one gift of generosity is often all it takes to bring hope where it’s needed most.
Lions members took on a challenge to assist vulnerable families in the community and thanks to the wonderful efforts of Good360 and their connections with various partners this has certainly played a valuable part for our Lions Club. We serve to strengthen the relationship between the community and its environment, along with improving the quality of life and increasing engagement in our local communities. Helping families deal with the cost of living crisis and families affected by disaster has become more common in recent times.
We serve to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve the quality of life for those diagnosed. We serve to prevent avoidable blindness and improve the quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired. We also support the needs of children and families affected by childhood cancer.
What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
We have experienced some amazing moments serving the community and one such moment would be providing Christmas presents, such as toys and LEGO to children, whose parents were not sure if they could afford to provide one. To watch the tears of joy and the smiles on their faces is thanks enough.
How does Good360 help your mission?
Our mission is to empower volunteers, serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs. Good360 has assisted the Lions Club of Toongabbie Seven Hills members by providing much-needed items to change people’s lives for the better. It may be a struggling family, families affected by disaster, or students in need of assistance. Lions are there to help and provide support when it’s needed most.
What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
So many people would miss out on the amazing products on offer. Without Good360 we wouldn’t have been able to give people in need the items they needed. Those who have been flood affected in the Hawkesbury area received various items and we know this would have been more difficult to do if it wasn’t for the wonderful people at Good360.
What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
LEGO is very popular with families and makes an idea gift for children. Seeing their eyes light up when we hand out LEGO to children and families affected by flooding was so rewarding.
How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?
We started serving the community in May 2020 and we have been able to assist well over 1,000 people since joining Good360 in August 2022.
