Good360’s September Member of the Month was Turbans 4 Australia! Turbans 4 Australia is a Sikh charity organisation that helps anyone in need regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity. Turbans 4 Australia raise awareness about important social issues, fundraise for worthy causes and participate in charitable works. During COVID-19 they have been offering support to people in the form of hampers filled with essential grocery items including food, hygiene and personal items.
We interviewed Turbans 4 Australia President, Amar Singh, and asked him about some of his favourite moments and how Good360 supports Turbans 4 Australia’s work.
What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
Turbans 4 Australia has relied heavily on donations from Good360 during COVID-19. We have COVID Relief Centres in Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne. Our programs serve members of the public facing hardship due to COVID shutdowns by providing free meals and hampers. Australians from all walks of life have been affected by the pandemic, we are trying to do our bit to reduce the stress around accessing basic groceries, personal care items and cleaning products.
What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
Our favourite moments are always when we received a large shipment of personal care products such as makeup, soaps and shower gels. It is priceless to see the look on the faces of young women who otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality personal care products during the crisis. You can just see their faces light up with a big smile under their masks.
How does Good360 help your mission?
Our mission is to help anyone in need regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity, Good360 helps us fulfil this vision with quality products. During COVID-19 Good360 has been able to provide free handling and shipping and this has been really helpful. Good360 form a very important link in the chain to fight this crisis.
What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
If it wasn’t for Good360, we would have no other way to source and provide personal care items. With the limitations on donations, we were struggling to find items to put in the hampers but Good360 has helped us help thousands of Australians down on their luck.
What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
We supplied 5 pallets of sanitiser and 2 pallets of hand wipes to our Melbourne Crisis centre based at Wollert Victoria, now all the hampers are being delivered with a 750ml bottle of hand sanitiser. We had a semi-trailer taking all the donations to Melbourne, so it was easy to transport. Many people have emailed to say thank you for the wonderful gift which is so important in fighting the spread of the virus. People cannot afford food at the present so buying sanitiser is not on their priority list.
At Turbans 4 Australia, we believe in providing quality goods and items, a person on the receiving end should feel good about it. The hampers should include items they need not what we need to give.
How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations? (estimate)
We believe over 8,000 people have benefited from the donations. We have sourced nearly 500 sanitiser products in our last major order.
