Our Member of the Month, Stepping Stone House, has been making a life-changing impact on young Australians aged 12-25 who are facing or at risk of homelessness. With help from Good360, they’re able to provide stability, a sense of home, and opportunities for growth to each resident, helping these young people work toward a brighter future. Stepping Stone House is a shining example of the ripple effect that compassionate, community-focused support can have. Read on to learn more about the difference they’re making on the lives of young people.
When did Stepping Stone House join Good360?
We joined Good360 in February 2024.
What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
Good360’s services have supported those aged between 12-25 at Stepping Stone House, who, through no fault of their own, have experienced or are at risk of homelessness. Currently, Stepping Stone House supports 76 young people across our programs, providing support in both residential houses and independent placements in the community.
Support from Good360 has had a profound impact on the lives of young people at Stepping Stone House, empowering them to regain stability, build confidence, and work toward a brighter future so that they can become the very best they can be.
What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
Recently, a resident of Stepping Stone House was required to spend a significant amount of time in a hospital setting. There were few activites to keep them entertained during this period. A staff member explored some possible solutions with them to assist with their boredom.
The following day, a staff member brought this young person two boxes of LEGO that they explained they have a key interest in. When the young person recognised these items were brought for them, they acted with extreme excitement! They spent the coming days playing with their new LEGO. Not only did this cure their boredom, they were observed to have their overall mood lifted, this of course is a result from the great work that the folks at Good360 do!
How does Good360 help your mission?
Our mission at Stepping Stone House is to provide a safe place for children and young people at risk or experiencing homelessness so they can begin to heal, build resilience, create connections and become the very best they can be.
Good360 has helped this mission through providing important items for our young people, including a brand-new bedroom set up for a new resident. They have helped us create a home away from home, to change the lives of countless young people at Stepping Stone House.
What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
With Good360’s support, our organisation is able to provide young people with the goods that Stepping Stone House would otherwise be required to purchase. This means that we are able to essentially save on our budget and re-route these funds to enable our organisation to support and expand our reach to more children and young people who are in need.
What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
One donation that stands out is the Dropship donation organised by Good360 in partnership with IKEA. Currently, one of our residential programs has a vacancy, and this generous donation allowed us to quickly prepare the space for a new resident. The high-quality furniture and stylish decor create a beautiful, welcoming room that a young person may never have had the opportunity to experience. Every item in the room, from the bed to the small details, was donated, and it will provide not just a physical space, but a safe, homely environment where the new resident can feel secure, comfortable, and supported. This donation plays a critical role in helping us offer a sense of stability and dignity to a young person in need, providing them with the best possible start in their journey towards independence.
How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?
All 76 of our residents.
