Merry Christmas from Bodhi Bus
Published on Katherine Timeson December 21, 2017 by Chris McLennan
Bodhi Bus travelers have been treated to a free bag of goodies thanks to volunteer support
Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders account for approximately 30% of the Northern Territory population. The highest proportion of any state or territory. More than 60% of Indigenous Australians live outside of major cities, in regional, remote and very remote communities
Bodhi Bus is the only not for profit remote passenger transport company in Australia.
Travelling up to 20,000 kilometres a week, servicing some of the remotest communities in Australia, such as Borroloola, which is over eight hours east toward the Queensland border, and Gapuwiyak, up the Central Arnhem Highway, taking up to 11 hours due to the dirt tracks and rough terrain.
Thanks to the $7800 (fair market trade price) worth of goods provided by generous donors of Good360 Australia, Bodhi Bus volunteers, packed individual goodie bags for our young travelers.
Not only, have these goodie bags been delivered directly to some of the remotest communities in the Top End of Australia thanks to our dedicated drivers, they are keeping children entertained on the long-distance bus rides back to their home community. Some very happy parents and children alike.
A big thank you to Good360 Australia and the volunteers of Bodhi Bus for packing and getting up bright and early to distribute the goodie bags to the children.
Bodhi Bus is currently closed over the Christmas period and will recommence all services (wet season weather permitting) on January 4. Office will be open from 8-12 on January 3 for phone bookings only.
