Member of the Month – RAS Foundation

Congratulations to our Member of the Month for November, RAS Foundation. Having been a member since 2018, RAS Foundation donates connected products to rural and regional showgrounds for distribution to communities who may be experiencing disadvantage. Notably, Good360 collaborates with the RAS Foundation annually for their Christmas kitchen goods and toys distribution. We were able to host the RAS team at our ReDistribution Centre recently to help pack their goods for distribution later this year. Read below to see the impact of these donations and how they have helped communities after disaster.

When did you join Good360?
We joined Good360 in 2018.

What programs do you use your Good360 donations for? Who does the program serve? How does it impact Australians in need?
We have been collaborating with Good360 for our annual Christmas goods and toys distribution. Since 2018, the RAS Foundation has been reaching out to showgrounds from rural and regional areas in need, and sending them kitchenware and toys to be distributed among their communities. So far, the program has helped 109 communities, plus 20 that will be receiving our pallets this Christmas.
According to those who have received this pallets, they bring joy and relief to these communities, specifically the ones who have been affected by bushfires and floods.

What is your favourite moment/interaction that you have had with a client when utilising the Good360 product?
I had the chance to speak to the local Santa from Manilla Showgrounds and he mentioned how important it was for them to receive their donation last year. Kids were over the moon with donations of LEGO. He emphasised how important this donation was for small communities that receive little help during the year. It puts smiles in the faces of both adults and kids.

How does Good360 help your mission?
Our mission is to build strong and resilient rural and regional communities, and Good360 has been a great help providing goods that help these communities to improve their community halls and showgrounds, or to get back on their feet after being affected by unforeseen natural circumstances. It might look like little for us, but it provides the showgrounds the capability of becoming independent and being able to raise funds and move forward.

What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?
The RAS Foundation would probably still be helping communities in need, but instead of helping twenty a year we would be helping three or four. Having to purchase goods for full-price would definitely affect our capability to reach more communities.

What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360? Why?
All the donations we have made have been special and significant. The kitchenware, toys and cleaning products we are able to donate to communities in need bring happiness and bring relief to people who are really struggling, and that makes us feel we are making a difference. I particularly remember the donation made to Manilla Showgrounds, which I have mentioned above.

How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?
Very difficult to quantify, as sometimes the products serve a whole community rather than an individual. It would definitely be something above 10,000 people (considering at least 100 people per community have benefitted).

The power of turning surplus inventory into social good

With Australia accelerating efforts towards circularity by 2030, it is critical that all sectors of the economy and society are working together collaboratively and cooperatively to address the increasing resource constraints, inequities in resource allocation and growing waste challenges. This requires consumers, businesses, governments, and the charitable sector to all play their part in creating a more sustainable and equitable future for all, recognising we are all part of a collective dynamic ecosystem that is co-creating our future together.

International Women’s Day 2023 – Cracking the Code at Good360 Australia

March 8 is International Women’s Day, and this year UN Women Australia’s 2023 theme is ‘Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender equal future’. This brings an opportunity for everyone to acknowledge the power of innovative technologies and systems in the advancement of women, who are marginalised globally and have a smaller presence in the digital world. We are also challenged to address the current barriers in place that keep women stagnant and play our small part to welcome women to move through society as comfortably as men.
