Member of the Month – Agape Outreach Inc

Congratulations to Agape Outreach Inc, our Member of the Month! Since becoming a member with Good360 they have made an incredible impact on their local community, from delivering goods to disadvantaged families, to hosting food drives for homeless people. Recently, Agape Outreach have been a key charity partner in distributing donated goods to flood-affected communities in Lismore and the Northern Rivers. These items include couches, fridges, dishwashers, and microwaves, which will undoubtedly provide ease to families recovering their livelihoods after the floods. Read on to see how Agape Outreach have contributed good to their community.

When did you join Good360?

We joined Good360 in 2018.

What programs do you use Good360 items for and how does it help people in need?

Agape helps the homeless and needy. The items that we have received from Good360 have helped the homeless, people escaping domestic violence, families, senior citizens and people struggling with mental health issues. Over the last couple of years Agape has supported many people affected by floods and Good360 has provided flood-relief items to help so many in our area who have been affected.

What has been your favourite moment that you have had with a client when distributing products from Good360?

Many clients, especially those in the worse flooded areas are suffering from PTSD. They tell me that they feel alone, they don’t know where the support is that has been promised and they are not coping. Having someone say to them that we can help, that they are being gifted a brand new piece of furniture, something quality gets them emotional. They say it means so much to have someone care.

How does Good360 help your mission?

The partnerships with larger corporate organisations allow Agape to support so many more people and in ways that we wouldn’t be able to. Agape is busy everyday helping hundreds of people during the worst times of their lives and to have a partnership with Good360, who have partnered with larger corporations, to help support these people makes a huge difference to our charity as we would never have had time to make these connections. Being on the frontline is time-devouring and emotionally-draining. This help supports Agape beyond clients but also in giving an emotional recharge to our organisation.

What would happen if Good360 wasn’t here to help?

Agape wouldn’t be able to provide as much support as we do and organisations such as Agape wouldn’t feel as supported by the community.

What is your favourite donation you have received from Good360 and why?

Probably the BIG W clothing. A couple of years back Agape received around 50 cartons of brand new BIG W clothing. We put it all out on tables and hundreds of our clients came through in an afternoon and selected what they needed for their families. This was a lot of fun but beyond this, we had a meal outreach in the park to the homeless and all the ladies were wearing the same Mickey Mouse t-shirt they had received at the clothing giveaway.

How many lives have you impacted through Good360’s donations?

A true number is unknown but 400 may be a good guess.
